PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition containing a layered clay mineral excellent in resistance to air permeability of the cured product. SOLUTION: The rubber composition comprises 100 pts.wt. rubber component, 1-100 pts.wt. layered clay mineral subjected to organized treatment with an organic ammonium compound and 0.1-10 pts.wt. compound represented by formula (I) (wherein R1is a 1-6C organic group; R2is OR1or an organic group not having a functional group) or its condensation reaction product.
