PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To positively disperse a load inputted in collision to a pillar with a simple constitution. SOLUTION: The vehicle body structure is provided with a member 1 having a front part 1a and an intermediate part 1b; a pillar 8 fixed to the member 1; a cross member 3 for connecting the pillar 8 and the member 1; a first bracket fixed to the front part 1a; and a second bracket 2 fixed to the first bracket, fixed to the intermediate part 1b and retaining the cross member 3. The member 1 has a pair of side walls, The first bracket has a pair of first side wall parts and the second bracket 2 has a pair of second side wall parts. Respective positions in a vehicle body width direction of the pair of side walls of the member 1, the pair of first side walls of the first bracket and the pair of second side walls of the second bracket are made coincident with each other.
