The gear has a pump unit (12) with an electric motor (6) and a hydraulic pump (7) operated in two rotating directions. An electronic controller (4) controls the motor based on driving speed, loading condition, height of lifting of load and steering angle of a truck, and/or number of rotations or positions of a steered wheel. Two pressure lines (9a, 9b) are routed to respective pressure chambers of a steering actuator (11).
