<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical sensor capable of simplifying a control signal wire of a modulator. <P>SOLUTION: This optical sensor is equipped with a light source 1, an optical interferometer 4 for detection for splitting light from the light source 1 into two light passages 2, 3 for detection and coupling the light again, a physical quantity detection medium 5 mounted on one light passage 2 for detection in the optical interferometer 4 for detection, for imparting a phase change corresponding to the physical quantity of a detection object to the light, an optical interferometer 8 for modulation for splitting light from the optical interferometer 4 for detection into two light passages 6, 7 for modulation and coupling the light again, a modulator 9 inserted into at least one light passage 6 for modulation in the optical interferometer 8 for modulation, for modulating the light, and a photodetector 10 for receiving the light from the optical interferometer 8 for modulation.
