<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical receiver which is constituted so as to process an optical duobinary signal received on a transmission link of an optical communication system. <P>SOLUTION: This receiver is provided with an optical-electrical signal converter connected to a decoder. The decoder forms a bit array corresponding to an optical signal by processing an electrical signal made by the converter, integrates the electrical signal by using a sampling window, compares the integration result with identity threshold, and forms a bit value. In a certain configuration, the width of the sampling window and the identity threshold are selected on the basis of an eye diagram which corresponds to the optical signal and on noise distribution function, respectively. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
