<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength conversion apparatus or the like which can keep the wavelength of output light constant even when the wavelength of input light is changed. <P>SOLUTION: The wavelength conversion apparatus (100) comprises a first wavelength converting section (110) and a second wavelength converting section (120) disposed in series between an entrance terminal (101) and an exit terminal (102). The first wavelength converting section (110) induces four-wave mixing by input light (at f<SB>0</SB>frequency) and first exciting light (at f<SB>pump1</SB>frequency) to generate intermediate light having a new wavelength (at f<SB>1</SB>frequency) by the four-wave mixing and outputs the intermediate light and the input light. The second wavelength converting section (120) induces four-wave mixing by the intermediate light and the input light outputted from the first wavelength converting section (110) and by second exciting light (at f<SB>pump2</SB>frequency) and outputs output light at a new wavelength (at f<SB>2</SB>frequency) generated by the four-wave mixing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
