<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser induced liquid jet generating apparatus by which stronger laser beam is irradiated even when a slender catheter is used without being thermally affected by the laser beam and which can be used for a long period of time and smoothly operated. <P>SOLUTION: Liquid W is irradiated with the laser beam in a main body 3. The generated liquid jet J is guided into the catheter 9 from a jet outlet 6. The flow in the direction opposite to the liquid jet is generated. Thus, even when the catheter with a small outer diameter is used, the apparatus is enabled to effect powerful laser irradiation without being affected by the laser beam and consequently shatter thrombus or the like, and recover the shattered thrombus by sucking shattered thrombus through distal end of the catheter. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
