PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an attachment and detachment mechanism in which by simply pushing a push button 13 protruded slightly on the installation surface 7a of a charger 7, a male connector 9 is made to protrude from this installation surface 7a with a large stroke and connected to a female connector 8 of the battery pack 6, and thereby the male connector 9 and the push button 13 are not broken. SOLUTION: In the attachment and detachment mechanism, a large pinion 11 with a large reference pitch diameter and a small pinion with a small reference pitch diameter are made coaxially and integrally rotatable, and a drive rack 13a which is capable of freely reciprocating integrally with the push button 13 is engaged with the small pinion 12, and a driven rack 10 which is capable of freely reciprocating integrally with the male connector 9 is engaged with the large pinion 11.
