PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information providing method and apparatus capable of more efficiently providing information to a requester by effectively utilizing a wait time of the requester before a requester telephone set and a connection destination telephone set are connected. SOLUTION: The information providing apparatus 2 provides information related to prescribed providing information to the requester telephone set 3 after a speech between the requester telephone set 3 and the connection destination telephone set 4 is finished when the requester telephone set 3 makes an information consecutive transmission request to the information providing apparatus 2 while the information providing apparatus 2 connected to the requester telephone set 3 via a prescribed line network 5 transmits prescribed providing information to the requester telephone set 3 for a time zone before the requester telephone set 3 is connected to the connection destination telephone set 4.
