PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lengthen a stroke of a suction stroke more than a stroke of an expansion stroke with a simple structure, in a 4-cycle reciprocating engine. SOLUTION: This 4-cycle reciprocating engine is constituted so that one end side of a first arm 6 and a second arm 7 is rotatably connected to a connecting rod pin 5 of a connecting rod 4 connected to a piston 2; and the other end side of the first arm 6 and the second arm 7 is respectively rotatably connected to respective crank pins 8a and 9a of a first crankshaft 8 and a second crankshaft 9 driven so that the rotating speed ratio becomes 2 to 1 by gears 10 and 11 and a pair of gears 12A and 12B of a phase angle changing mechanism 12.
