[PROBLEMS] To provide a program information producing apparatus that can produce program information indicative of the contents of programs without using any program tables, allows the contents of programs to be visually and easily grasped, and that can produce program information with higher accuracy. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] There are included receiving means for receiving images transmitted from distributing means such as a broadcast station and the like; management means for extracting, from the received images, still images of particular timings or moving images of given periods at particular timings to use the extracted images as sampling information, and for producing program information from the sampling information, the information of the distributing means related to the sampling information, and the information of reception time frames related to the sampling information; storage means for storing the program information; and output means for outputting the stored program information. Program information is produced based on the images as distributed in the past.
