Device for electrolytic coating of metal ropes (sic) in which the metal rope is passed vertically through at least two parallel electrodes (2, 3) with introduction of electrolyte between the metal rope and the electrodes, where the electrodes consist of a number of paired individual electrodes (2', 2'',3', 3'',...) arranged vertically in sequence and in parallel alignment. An independent claim is included for operation of the device involving measurement of an indicator for approach of the metal rope to the electrodes and movement of an electrode normal to the metal rope surface with the aid of an actuator.
