<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for writing and reading ECC load data to and from memory while reducing the load of a booster circuit. <P>SOLUTION: In a data storage device, the proportion of a bit value [0] or [1] in error correction codes and all the component bits of error correction code generation unit data is calculated, and when a data pattern that consumes less power during a data storage process is determined to be the error correction codes and the inverted data of the error correction code generation unit data, a bit value inverting process is implemented to write them into memory. When the data is read, whether or not the data written in memory is the inverted data is determined according to additional bit data, and when it is the inverted data, a re-inverting process is implemented to restore it to the original data for output. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
