<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transparent protecting layer suitably used for coating a cooking plate, particularly an anti-scratching layer for glass and glass ceramic, which shows high heat resistance and a smooth and tight surface with a charming design. <P>SOLUTION: The protecting layer has at least one intermittent layer composed of a thermally stable amorphous oxide mixture are formed among crystalline metal oxide sub-layers, and further has at least one intermittent layer composed of a crystalline metal oxide are formed among the above sub-layers comprising a thermally stable amorphous metal oxide mixture layer. The amorphous oxide mixture layer contains at least two metal ingredients.
