PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent lowering of pitch accuracy due to runout or galling on a punch in piercing the nozzle on a nozzle plate in a liquid discharging head by a press. SOLUTION: In the piercing by a press generally, a workpiece is held between the upper and lower dies, with a hole pierced by a punch on the workpiece in a manner pressurized in the thickness direction, which causes runout or galling on the punch. Accordingly, on a pair of positioning pins 103 erected on the stage 100 of the press, the positioning hole 110a of the workpiece 110 which is a material for the nozzle plate is inserted and fixedly positioned in the horizontal direction. Then, in a non-pressure holding state without pressing the workpiece 110 in the thickness direction, the punch 101 is lowered to form a minute hole 111 that becomes a nozzle.
