PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication apparatus carrying out facsimile communication using a plurality of telephone lines and executing a telephoning function at the same time by using the plurality of telephone lines. SOLUTION: When a user depresses an on-hook key 5 or lifts up a first receiver 14 or a second receiver 14, a free telephone line in the first and second telephone lines L1, L2 is automatically acquired, and a telephone number of a speech destination is dialed in response to an operation input of a dial key 5a. When connection to an opposite telephone set is discriminated by detecting polarity inversion or a voice from a speech opposite party, a processing right of various function keys in an operation section 5 is switched to the other telephone line.
