PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method and a manufacturing device of a picture display device capable of sealing stably in a short time while maintaining the whole substrate at a low temperature. SOLUTION: After arranging a sealing material having conductivity and forming sealing layers 21a, 21b along at least one of the inner periphery of a front substrate 11 and a rear substrate 12, these substrates are arranged opposed to each other. With the front substrate and the rear substrate placed in opposed state, the sealing layers are switched on electricity and the sealing material is heated and melted, and the peripheral parts of the front substrate and the rear substrate are jointed. When the sealing material is switched on electricity and heated, the switching-on to the sealing material is controlled based on the temperature variation of the sealing material.
