PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a check pattern which enables the easy recognition of a position of a defective nozzle, and a recording method. SOLUTION: The check pattern to be printed by an inkjet recording apparatus is printed by using a recording head which has a plurality of ejection parts arranged along a predetermined direction. Characteristically, the check pattern comprises horizontal rules corresponding to all the ejection parts for one color, which are constituted in the recording head, an index for indicating by which ejection part in the recording head the horizontal rule is recorded, and vertical borders for indicating a boundary between the horizontal rules.
