The method uses monitoring and evaluation of the voltage signal characteristic for a piezoelectric component of the washer-dryer, for indication of a critical operating condition of the washer-dryer, e.g. failure of the drive for rotation of the laundry drum (4), for adjusting or interrupting the drying program via the electronic program control device (1). An independent claim for a washer-dryer with critical operating condition detection is also included.
