A new therapeutic light system (designated 'heliolux') comprises a lamp with a glass body and luminescent agents which emit a special light spectrum for killing viruses and bacteria in blood without destroying the endogenous cells and components of the blood. The system is optionally used simultaneously with administration of activated oxygen and normal oxygen.
