摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery having excellent cycle characteristics and a high energy density which uses a negative electrode in which a mix layer including active material particles containing silicon and/or a silicon alloy and a binder is provided by sintering on the surface of a collector made of a conductive metal foil. <P>SOLUTION: The lithium secondary battery comprises: a positive electrode 5 in which a positive electrode mix layer including a positive electrode active material and a positive electrode binder is provided on the surface of a positive electrode collector; a negative electrode 4 in which a negative electrode mix layer including a negative electrode active material containing silicon and/or a silicon alloy and a negative electrode binder is provided by sintering on the surface of a negative electrode collector; a separator 3 provided between the positive electrode 5 and the negative electrode 4; and a nonaqueous electrolyte. The lithium secondary battery is configured such that, for example, no opposing positive electrode mix layer is present at a portion 4a of the negative electrode 4 where the negative electrode mix layer is curved, so that no charge-discharge reaction occurs at the portion 4a. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
