<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the lifetime of a photoreceptor drum by suppressing scraping of parts with which the ends of a charging roller come in contact in the surface of the photoreceptor drum. <P>SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus is configured so that the width L of the surface layer 1d of a photoreceptor drum 1, the width C of a charging roller 2 and the width B of a cleaning blade 12a are set so as to satisfy B<C<L, and accordingly each end C1 of the charging roller 2 is positioned between each end L1 of the surface layer 1d and each end B1 of the cleaning blade 12a. Thus, scraping of parts with which the ends C1 of the charging roller 2 come in contact in the surface of the photoreceptor drum can be suppressed. When the surface layer 1d contains a compound cured by polymerization or crosslinking, between each end C1 of the charging roller 2 and each end B1 of the cleaning blade 12a, scuffing of the surface layer 1d by a foreign substance pressed against the surface layer 1d by the charging roller 2 can be prevented. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
