PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and method for enhancing MF accuracy. SOLUTION: The photographing method uses the imaging apparatus which includes a photographing lens, an operation part, and a manual focus mode which adjusts the focal point of the imaging lens based upon a drive signal generated in response to the operation of the operating part. The method includes the step of detecting the length of time that the operating part is operated, and the step of driving the photographing lens in a direction opposite to a drive direction after a signal for stopping the photographing lens is outputted when the detected length of time that the photographing lens is continuously operated is equal to or longer than a predetermined time.
