PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetostriction speaker with a simple structure capable of attaining a high output while low cost and low profile are realized. SOLUTION: The magnetostriction speaker SP 1 is configured with: a super magnetostriction member; a nearly rod shaped super magnetostriction rod 24 whose one end is a fixed end; a drive coil 26 provided to surround the outer circumference of the super magnetostriction rod 24 and for applying a magnetic field to the super magnetostriction rod 24 in its axial direction L1; and a diaphragm 11 located nearly in parallel with the axial direction L1 of the super magnetostriction rod 24. Then a vibrating face 11A of the diaphragm 11 is provided with a projection 38 projected in a direction L2 different from the axial direction L1 of the super magnetostriction rod 24 and the vibration of the super magnetostriction rod 24 in its axial direction L1 is delivered to the diaphragm 11 via the projection 38.
