PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving a CCD linear sensor by which signal charge can be speedily swept away without exerting negative impact on image signals. SOLUTION: The CCD linear sensor to be driven by the method has a first register and a second register which transfer signal charge taken by a sensor, and a multiplexing part which transfers the signal charge individually transferred from the first register and the second register toward an electric charge and voltage conversion means. It is provided with a mode in which the signal charge transferred from the first register and the second register is mixed and swept away by the multiplexing part. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
