PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable characteristics difference to be absorbed by writing waveform information in a nonvolatile memory arranged in a recording medium and reading it at a recording reproducing device side. SOLUTION: The waveform information, where the recording medium is reproduced by a standard head with the characteristics designated by a standard, is written in the nonvolatile memory inside an interchangeable recording medium, and the information regarding the characteristics difference between the head actually used by this device and the standard head is registered in an internal memory for the recording reproducing device. The total amount of deviation for the medium used and the head used is calculated from contents of the nonvolatile memory at the recording reproducing device side and a filter factor is decided based on this amount of the deviation.
