PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device which is constructed by using a liquid crystal display device, has simple constitution, is easy-to-understand and is related to the display device of an electric appliance such as a burner. SOLUTION: A backlight means is constituted of an entire surface lighting backlight means and a partial surface lighting backlight means. Background colors of divided sections of the liquid crystal display device 20 can be partially changed from one another. By changing the color of the backlight means of the section corresponding to the content displayed on the liquid crystal display device 20, the background color of the liquid crystal display device 20 is changed in accordance with the content to be displayed. Consequently the content displayed on the liquid crystal display device 20 is distinguished by the background color and the display content is made easily recognizable by blinking the backlight means on the periphery of a part of the liquid crystal display device 20 expressing the content to attract attention while the backlight means on the part expressing the content is left turned on, and an easy-to-understand display is produced.
