A centrifuge whose rotor 2 (Fig. 1) is driven by a motor 5, 6 and maintained vertical by cooperating magnets 9, 10 (Fig. 2), has a coil 16 in a magnetic, preferably ferrite, core 17 located on the outside of the casing 1 so that normally existing irregularities in the fields of magnets 9, 10 induce an alternating voltage in coil 16, which is amplified at 18 and indicates at 19 the speed of rotation or the extent of the wobble. By using two coils displaced by 90 degrees round the casing 1, the rest position of the centrifuge rotor can be determined from their inductances. |
