PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To store articles in an article storage part of a rack irrespective of the size of a lower surface of the article to be stored when operating an automated storage and retrieval system. SOLUTION: A pallet 1 has a plate area with a sufficient size for stable placement on a pair of right and left shelf parts 12 provided at a predetermined interval. The pallet 1 is formed so that a plurality of strip-shaped members 20 having a long side of the length equivalent to the right-to-left dimension of the plate area and a short side part orthogonal thereto in plan view are connected to each other and arranged longitudinally by the number to satisfactorily cover the longitudinal dimension of the plate area with the long sides parallel to each other.
