The aim of the invention is to provide a device and a method which makes it possible to filter fine and superfine particles from the dishwashing fluid of a dishwasher. This aim is attained by the device and method according to the invention for filtering particles from a dishwashing fluid of a dishwasher. The inventive device comprises a container (1) into which a predetermined quantity of a liquid (2) is introduced to which a foam-producing substance is added. The container comprises means (5) by means of which a gaseous fluid flows through the liquid to which the foam-producing substance is added, thereby producing a float (3) on the liquid to which the foam-producing substance is added. Said float has filtering properties so that a substantial part of the particles is filtered out in the float and remains in the float.
