The drive wheel arrangement has a drive wheel with an integrated electric motor (1) fitted to the frame (2) of the wheelchair via an adapter (7), a mechanical locking device securing the wheel fitted into the adapter to the wheelchair frame. A pivot plate (3) attached to the electric motor is provided with an axle pin (4) for the wheel, the adapter having a pivot pin (8) for a pivot lug (31) at the end of the pivot plate, allowing the wheel to pivot relative to the wheelchair frame until a locking bolt (5) of the pivot plate is engaged by a locking sleeve (6) of the adapter.
