<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve light emission efficiency by effectively reusing passed light through a light diffusing member. <P>SOLUTION: An external resonator of the semiconductor laser device is constituted by a light emitting plane 1b of a semiconductor laser element 1 and a reflecting surface of a reflective member 3 which is disposed facing the light emitting plane 1b of the semiconductor laser element 1. The light diffusing member 2 is disposed between the semiconductor laser element 1 and the reflective member 3. Incident light b on the light diffusing member 2 which is emitted from the semiconductor laser element 1, is scattered by a scatterer c and is emitted outside as scattered light d.
