<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a form processing system and a form processing method, efficiently retrieving form data once read by an OCR and stored in a data file device. <P>SOLUTION: In a newly inputted receipt 1, an image of the front face is read by a front face reading part 12, identification information in an OCR area is recognized by a character recognition part 16, and a consecutive number is imparted and is stored in a data storage part 18 by a reading control part 17. On the rear face of the receipt 1, the consecutive number is printed by a print part 14. In the receipt 1 that is a deletion target, the OCR information is read by the front face reading part 16, and the consecutive number is read by a rear face reading part 13. When the OCR information and the consecutive number are recognized by the character recognition part 16, the data storage part 18 is searched by a retrieval control part 19 with the consecutive number as a key.
