PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a memory management system (180) adapted to process linked list data files. SOLUTION: The system has a plurality of low-capacity and high-speed memories 1803 and a large-capacity low-speed memory 1806. An access flow regulator 1801 generates requests for the reading and writing of the linked list files by the memories. The head and tail buffers and any intermediate buffers of a linked list are written to the high-speed memories. The intermediate buffers are immediately transferred from the high-speed memories to the large-capacity memory, while leaving the head buffer and the tail buffer of the linked list in the high-speed memories. In reading operations, the head and the tail buffers are read from the high-speed memories.
