PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge igniter for a burner, easy in attaching and detaching a discharge electrode of an igniting plug to and from a high-voltage generator after applying a direct-coupled structure restraining voltage drop due to a connection cable, coping with lowering of height, and implementing reliable igniting operation and securing of durability. SOLUTION: The high-voltage generator 20 and the discharge electrode 11 directly connected thereto are partially disposed between a burner body 40 and a front panel 50. A casing 21 of the high-voltage generator 20 is formed of polyphenylene sulfide resin. A connecting mechanism 34 includes a pressure contact part 36 and a guide part 37 having a plurality of guide pieces 38, and the periphery thereof is provided with a substantially semi-cylindrical discharge preventing member 33 formed of polyphenylene sulfide resin.
