PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator capable of reducing the power consumption by adjusting a defrosting cycle in accordance with a use state of the refrigerator. SOLUTION: An opening of a door 12 of the refrigerator is detected and integrated, an integrated value of an operation time of a compressor 1 to the start of the defrosting operation is operated and determined on the basis of the integrated door opening, and the defrosting period is automatically adjusted in accordance with the use state of the refrigerator on the basis of an opening and closing state of the door 12, whereby a defrosting interval is adjusted to be a proper interval in accordance with the load, and the power consumption of a defrosting heater 7 can be reduced.
