Brake device for a pram has a control cable with a manual activation mechanism fixed to the pram frame. The operating end of the cable is connected to a drive seat on a wheel seat and pushes it into a braking position along a straight path. If the drive seat is moved to its braking position, a pivoting arm is moved into a meshing position to that it is held in one holding groove of a number of such grooves to prevent the further rotation of the wheel.
