The set of solid supports for toxic metal ions removal from aqueous media has ligands of the hydroxypyrimidinofla type and is represented by the formula S-B-L, where (S) is e.g. an inorganic polymeric solid support, (B) is a covalent bond and (L) is the ligand. The supports have high sequestration capacities for e.g. Fe (III), metals of Group IIIA of the Periodic Table and actinides.
