<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stern tube seal device and a revolving thruster capable of precluding oil leak even if the sea water surface becomes lower than the oil surface in an inspection tank. <P>SOLUTION: The stern tube seal device S1 for a ship having a propeller shaft 11 penetrating its hull 12 is furnished internally with first seal rings 15a and 15b and second seal rings 15c and 15f located on the outside of the ship where the propeller shaft 11 penetrates the hull 12. A gravitation tank 16 is installed above the full draft H1 of the ship in order to certainly prevent the sea water from intruding when the seal is damaged, while the inspection tank 18 is positioned lower than the light load draft H2 and higher than the lowest sea surface level H3 at the time of bad weather. A check valve 31 is installed below the inspection tank 18 so that oil leak can be precluded even if the oil level in the inspection tank 18 becomes higher than the sea water level. A spring 31a to generate the cracking pressure for the check valve 31 is made small as much as practicable so that the check valve 31 admits flowing through even when the sea water has intruded or lubricating oil has leaked, and the oil level in the inspection tank 18 is raised. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
