An hydraulic forging press, part of which is mounted below ground level, has a moving system comprising an upper tool carrier 9 connected by columns 8, slidably guided in a lower tool carrier 1, to a lower platen 5 which is guided separately by a shaft or shafts 2, 3 sliding in a guide bush or bushes 6. Depending from the fixed lower tool carrier 1 is a central shaft 3, passing through guide bushes 6 in the platen 5, and two fixed plungers 2 guided in hydraulic cylinders 7 mounted on the platen 5 for performing the forging stroke. Retraction plungers 11 are provided on the upper carrier 9. Heat protection sleeves 10 surround the columns 8. |
