<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a touch panel device capable of accurately detecting correct two-dimensional contact positions, to which an object is brought into contact, even though it has a small and simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of excitation elements 2 are arranged on one-side two facing sides of a rectangular detection range 1a of a non-piezoelectric substrate 1, and a plurality of receiving elements 3 are arranged on the other-side two facing sides of the detection range 1a so as to face them to the respective excitation elements 2. Surface acoustic waves are transmitted from the plurality of respective excitation elements, 2 to diagonal two directions of the detection range 1a; the surface acoustic waves from the diagonal two directions are received by the plurality of respective reception elements 3; and the two-dimensional position of the object, brought into contact with the non-piezoelectric substrate 1, is detected based on the reception result by the receiving elements 3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
