<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preceding vehicle detecting device which can detect a preceding vehicle more surely, a local vehicle controller, and to provide a method of detecting preceding vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: The preceding vehicle detecting device 1 is equipped with a millimeter-wave radar 11; an object grouping part 131, which generates a measurement point group by grouping measurement points which are close to one another and have the same relative speed among measurement points detected by the millimeter-wave radar 11; a group relative speed decision part 132 which extracts a measurement point group satisfying the conditions of a preceding vehicle from the measurement point group generated by the object grouping part 131; and a time continuity deciding part 133, which detects as a preceding vehicle a measurement point group extracted higher than a 1st specified frequency by the group relative speed deciding part 132. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
