PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the inconvenience of a posture detecting means in downward and upward postures. SOLUTION: The camera is provided with a posture detecting device in which, when an inclination angle detected by an inclination angle detecting means is within the range of a first inclination angle, posture detection is executed by using the detected results of the inclination angle detecting means, and when an inclination angle detected by the inclination angle detecting means is within the range of a second inclination angle, the posture detection is executed by using the detected results of the inclination angle detecting means in the range of the first inclination angle and a roll rotational angle detected by a roll rotational angle detecting means in the range of the second inclination angle.
