PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flaw correction method (means) for carrying out optimum defect correction processing within one image frame. SOLUTION: The flaw correction circuit selects a pair of referencing directions such as upper and lower directions, left and right directions, and oblique directions for interpolation processing of a pixel defect, uses a pair of reference pixels on the selected directions for interpolation reference pixels, carries out processing of estimating a lost value due to a defect of a pixel of interest by calculating the values of the reference pixels, selects a set of reference pixels whose directions are referenced by detecting a change in the values of the reference pixel ranges, determines a pixel pair subjected to the direction reference on the basis of a set of the selected reference pixels, and calculates interpolation values with which the values of the defect correction pixels are replaced.
