PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately, simply and quickly estimate ink consumption prior to the start of recording. SOLUTION: The image processing device estimates ink consumption on the basis of a value obtained by cumulatively adding the output data of a halftone processing section 104 by one page in a cumulative addition section 108 and determines whether the recording of one page is possible or not by comparing with the remaining quantity of ink in a simulation in which ink consumption is estimated prior to the start of recording.
