PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ball tap which can make a flushing tank compact, and which can convert an ascending/descending motion of a float into a smooth and stable turning motion of a turning arm. SOLUTION: This ball tap comprises a hydrant 10, a water discharge pipe 12, the float 18 which makes the ascending/descending motion by making the pipe 12 serve as a guide, and the turning arm 46 which makes a valve body 22 of the hydrant 10 perform opening and closing operations by the turning motion interlocked with the ascending/descending motion of the float 18. The ascending/descending motion of the float 18 is converted into the rotary motion of the turning arm 46 by a motion converting mechanism. The motion converting mechanism comprises a slide groove 64 which is provided on the side of the float 18 and elongated in an almost horizontal direction, and a protrusion 60 to be guided, which is provided on the side of the turning arm 46 and slidably fitted into the slide groove 64; and the slide groove 64 is provided in such a shape as to be almost horizontally and linearly elongated in a planar shape.
