921,104. Applying adhesive strips. JAGEN. BERG-WERKE A.G. March 14, 1961 [April 5, 1960], No. 9261/61. Class 73. Refers to apparatus for securing together the corners of a box by adhesive strips. The strip 15, Fig. 1, is fed from a roll 14 via rollers 16, 17, 18 by a driven roller 19 and counterroller 20 shaped as shown in Fig. 4 to bend the strip to a V-shape, the strip then being severed by means of a stationary knife 23 and a knife 24 secured to the front side of a movable pressure jaw 4 located on a double-armed lever 6. The severed portion of the strip is held to the jaw 4 by movable tongues 25, Figs. 1, 6 until the pressure jaw 4 pivots downwardly to press the strip 15 on to the box 2 located on a stationary jaw or anvil 3. The intermittent movement of the jaw 4 is effected by a cam 8 and cam follower 9 while the drive for the feed roller 19 is also effected by the cam 8, a cam follower 28 on one end of a two-armed lever 26 and a cord or chain 29 which engages the other end of the lever 26 and passes over rollers 30, 27 and is connected to a fixed point of the apparatus via the hub of the roller 19 and a spring 33. The pivot axes 5 of the lever 6 is eccentrically disposed to provide for adjustment of the setting of the jaw 4. The jaw or anvil 3 is supported on an elastic component 10 and is secured to the holder 11 by a pin and bore arrangement 12, 13 which permits limited lateral play of the jaw 3. A heating element may be located in the jaw 4 for use with thermoplastic adhesive strip. |
