Analysis of element concentrations in sample using laser ablation inductive coupled plasma mass spectrometry, by using given laser power density and spot diameter at sample surface

The irradiated laser power density is at least 109> W/cm2>. The laser has a spot diameter at the surface of the sample of less than 100 micrometer. A metallic tip, such as a silver tip is used for focussing the laser beam. The sample material is stoichiometrically ablated. An independent claim is included for an apparatus for analysing element concentrations in a sample using LA-ICP-MS.
