<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display, in which an LED is accurately placed opposite to a side edge of a thin light guide plate with ease, the light emitted from the LED is utilized efficiently and the luminance of the light guide plate is enhanced. <P>SOLUTION: A mold frame 43 is attached on a rear frame 41 via a reflection sheet. Inside the frame of the mold frame 43, the LED light source 44 and an end face of the light guide plate 46 are placed opposite to, and in the vicinity of or in contact with, each other. On the side of the mold frame 43, opposite to the side on which the LED light source 44 and the end face of the light guide plate 46 are placed opposite to, and in the vicinity of or in contact with, each other, an elasticizing means 43c for pressing the light guide plate 46 against the LED light source 44 and a positioning means 43d for the light guide plate are arranged. On the side on which the LED light source 44 and the end face of the light guide plate 46 are placed opposite to, and in the vicinity of or in contact with each other, an end edge of the light guide plate 46 is made to penetrate under a flexible printed board 44a with the LED attached thereto. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
