PROMOTOR AND METHOD FOR USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a promotor and an expression vector of the genus Monascus having health promoting effects as a food additive, and to provide a method for using the same.

SOLUTION: The DNA molecule containing a sequence derived from an initiation codon upstream sequence of Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase (acuF) gene derived from Monascus pilosus, Monascus rubber or Monascus purpureus, and a heat shock protein (hsp) gene is provided. Promoter region contains the DNA molecule, and recombinant plasmid and expression vector contain the promoter region.
